Conde Nast Traveler’s annual Reader’s Poll has named the BVI’s Sugar Mill Hotel as one of the five best in the Caribbean/Atlantic region. This is the second time the 23 room hotel has been awarded this honor.
“It’s a very special award because it is based on guests’ experiences and we’re very pleased to have such an excellent rating from our visitors,” said Jeff Morgan who with his wife Jinx, is the hotel’s owner. “We are especially proud of our staff who take such pride in their work and who always try to go the extra mile to please a guest,” Morgan added.
The twenty-four room Sugar Mill Hotel in the British Virgin Islands has been named by readers of Condé Nast Traveler as one of the ten best hotels in the Caribbean. An intimate hotel built around the ruins of a 370 year old stone sugar mill, Sugar Mill’s restaurant recently was also named one of the three best in the Caribbean & Mexico by the editors of Celebrated Living, the premium class in-flight magazine of American Airlines.
More than 30,00 readers participated in the Condé Nast Traveler poll. In the hotel category properties were judged on rooms, service, food/dining, location and overall design. Each candidate was rated on each criterion on a five-point scale: excellent, very good, good, fair and poor. Final scores represent the percentage of excellent and very good ratings.
The Sugar Mill is owned by Jeff & Jinx Morgan, (Jinx a well known artist) as well as food writers and cookbook authors, and managed by Patrick Conway. Mr. Conway said of the award, “We think of the Sugar Mill as a small hotel for a few special people.
